So again I picked up the next in the Sookie Stackhouse series,Dead to the World (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 4) by Charlaine Harris from the library as soon as I finished the last one. Something that is strange to me is there was a waiting list so long I had to wait months to get the first in the series but the rest of them have practically been sitting on the shelf waiting for me to just pick them up. Did all those people really not like the first book to the point that they don't even care to put the others on hold or did all those people put the first one on hold with the intention of reading it but never read it or even checked it out at all?
Oh well it works out for me now because I am able to read them all so fast.

All I'm saying about this one is I want to be on Bill's side because you know he's the good guy and all but I think I'm on Eric's. Oh hell why can't they just all get along and do it together? I don't feel like threesomes are in the future of these books but if there is and it isn't between Sookie, Bill and Eric I am going to be disappointed.

I picked up Part of Me: Stories of a Louisiana Family by Kimberly Willis Holt while in Florida in unabridged audio for listening on the long drive back home and also to fill a requirement for the What's In A Name Reading Challenge.

Set in Louisiana bayou country, this unusual collection of stories spans four generations of one family and uses reading as the thread that strings them together. The first three tales, which begin in 1939, concern Rose, who must go to work at 14 and passes herself off as 17 to drive the library bookmobile. Two stories tell of Rose's 12-year-old son, Merle Henry, reading Old Yeller around 1957. In 1973, his daughter, Annabeth, an eighth-grader, clings to fairy tales in the face of first love. Then Annabeth's 13-year-old son, Kyle, in 2004 can only find a library job--though he doesn't like to read. The final story, also taking place in 2004, centers again on Rose, now 79. Though readers may sometimes wish for more about a particular character, this collection offers a different experience: marking the passage of time through a succession of related characters. Readers intrigued by Rose, whose early entries are the only stories told here in first person, will have the satisfaction of seeing her in later tales and watching her quiet triumph at the end. I just loved this book not just because I live in Louisiana so the place names sound familiar but mostly because the writing is wonderful. I loved each and every character how their lives all weaved together was beautifully crafted, never strained which is something I always fear in books that try to follow families through multiple generations.

I am getting close to finishing this challenge which will be pretty exciting, I haven't finished a challenge yet, like ever since I really just started challenges this year. I am currently in the middle of Doctor Who and the Loch Ness Monster which should take care of the body of water now I just need to work on the plant.

Now I ask, how many of these people were you already following before you read this article?
It is a sad state of affairs but before I read this article I was only following 1 of these people. I am a bit ashamed but the problem has been remedied and I am now following all of them. I think I am over compensating but it is what it is.

I need this like I need a kick in the head but I'm joining another challenge.

Here are the details of the Read the Book, See the Movie Challenge hosted over at Ready When You Are, C. B.

The Read the Book, See the Movie Challenge is based on a simple idea--read a book, see a movie based on the book, include both in your review. Whether yours is a book blog or a movie blog, this could be a way to add some spice to your posts, expand your outlook, have some fun. Mostly, have some fun.

You don't have to write full reviews both the movie and the book. You can write a review of one then add a brief paragraph or just a sentence or two about the other at the end.


Select a challenge level:

• Matinee: one book/movie
• Double Feature: two books/movies
• Saturday Movie Marathon: four books/movies
• Film Festival: eight books/movies
• Festival Jury Member: ten books/movies

The challenge will begin on New Year's Day 2010 and will last all year.

I am going to go for the Film Festival level of a challenge mainly because I already know there are at least four books I have read that I haven't seen the movie to go along with it and I don't see it as much of a challenge if I don't have to read any books so the Film Festival level forces me to go out and read some books too. I don't think this one will be too hard to finish by the end of the year, we'll see.

Book Review - Club Dead by Charlaine Harris

I picked up Club Dead (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 3) by Charlaine Harris at the library as fast as possible after finishing Living Dead in Dallas. I am officially hooked on these books. Club Dead is where the books really start to veer from the TV show which makes sense considering that this is the 3rd book and the show has only had 2 seasons but still there are things in this book that I really wonder how they are going to put them in the show. I am interested to see what they put in, what they change and what they take out all together.

I don't want to give a description because I don't want to give anything away and the description on Amazon gives away too much this time so again I will just say this, READ IT!

Also this knocks off another one in the Sookie Stackhouse Reading Challenge.

I can't tell you the exact pages because I am reading it on my iPhone using Stanza which I love but it breaks the book up into parts and then makes up new page numbers so they wouldn't mean much if someone were trying to find the exact quotes.
