Read-A-Thon Post 1

Saturday, April 10, 2010

So far I have read about 20 pages and finished Doctor Who and the Cybermen. That's not very much but I am also feeding myself and a 3 year old so I am not feeling bad about it. That's usually the number of pages I read in a whole day and it's only 8am. I am going to have to take a couple hour break now to run our errands then I'll be back to read some more. I do have an audio book I'll be listening to in the car though so I won't really have to stop "reading".

Here is the info for the first mini challenge of the Read-A-Thon.

Where are you reading from today? mostly my house but I will also be listening to audio books int he car while we run some errands I just can't get out of today

3 facts about me … I die my hair Red, I have published a book of poetry and I have traveled to Australia

How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours? 9 I think. The pile is kind of less of a physical pile and more piled in my head from books that are on my shelf.

Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)? The only real goal I have is to finish the books I have checked out of the library which I already finished one so now I just have to finish Club Dead. Anymore than that is just gravy.

If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, Any advice for people doing this for the first time? Get a babysitter, enlist your husband or Mom or someone. I wish I could take this advice...if you can't get a babysitter then get a bunch of kids books and get the little one involved. Children's books count so read to them when they need lovey attention throughout the day.

3 your two cents:

looking good!! Keep up the reading :)

Hope you enjoy your day. That is great advice about the childrens books. I think I will do that later today, my youngest loves to be read to.

Traditional read-a-thon blessing:

May the bookshelf be there to greet you.
May all the books appeal.
May the fridge be full of tasty snacks;
the words fall soft upon your eyes and until the read-a-thon ends,
may you always hold a book in the palm of your hand.

Good luck today!
